[Random] Lucky Dragon phone

This made me smile when I first saw it:

If you're a follower of feng shui, then the Lucky Dragon phone should be right up your alley. Apparently, it was designed to "generate auspicious energy every time you hold and use it", and "activates good chi every time you make or receive a phone call." Sounds pretty dodgy to me, as calls from bosses at midnight rarely herald good chi, Lucky Dragon phone or not. This handset is available in Singapore, retailing for S$168 with a 2-year contract or S$668 without.

From: uberphones
~~~
I guess its pretty, although a bit too 'bling' for my tastes, but I don't receive enough calls on my mobile to affect my chi. Still good energy everytime I get or send a sms message would be nice :D
X-posted to anything_dragon
[News] The DRAGON Spell!
The DRAGON Spell!
Smitha Prasad
In the East, dragons are cherished for their beauty and magical powers and sometimes seen as protectors...
Folk tales and fairy tales would not be much fun without fire breathing and scary dragons. Of all the mythical creatures that arose from water, roamed the earth and flew across the heavens, dragons are the most legendary. The exact date of the dragon's debut in myths is not known. But, dragons in legends can be traced back to 4000 B.C.
In the East, dragons are cherished for their beauty and magical powers and sometimes seen as protectors. In fact, so popular are dragons in the East that they are featured on pottery and used in ceremonies and parades. The Chinese even have a year of the dragon, and believe that anyone born in this year will be healthy, wealthy and wise. This is drastically contradictory to the Western view of the dragons which abhors them as monsters that kill with their putrid breath.
The most famous of the mythical dragons is the Hydra or the one with nine heads. Before Hercules the legendary hero slew it, it had eaten up many beautiful princesses.
Another famous dragon is the Chimera, a monster that breathed fire and spat flames as far as a fur- long. A valiant warrior named Bellerophon killed this monster. Then there are the Firedrakes that lived in a cave and zealously guarded great treasure. Mlokoky Smij from Lithuania was a benevolent dragon that provided milk to the diaries of good housewives. Whereas, the Pa Snakes, huge serpent dragons ate elephants and spat out their bones after three years. The rain bringing dragons in Asian tales could shrink to fit into a tea cup or swell to fill the whole sky. The Pucks were small, four footed dragons. These household spirits brought back stolen goods to their masters. Did these fire breathing monsters with rolling red eyes, ridges on their back and a swaying, massive tail really exist? Or are they a figment of man's imagination?
The truth is that dragons never existed save in legends and myths. But, there must be some basis for their birth in man's imagination. On closer observation, it can be noticed that dragons in all tales invariably have wings and are shaped suspiciously like dinosaurs. In the Mesozoic Era, gigantic reptiles roamed the earth. The biggest and most ferocious of these reptiles was the Dinosaur.
However, about sixty million years ago Dinosaurs became extinct. This happened because there were many changes that took place in the atmosphere on Earth. The dinosaurs could not adapt to the changed vegetation and terrain. Finally, the appearance of the four seasons sounded their death knell.
The dinosaurs had grown in stature from their original size of a turtle to that of huge mountains. But, they had failed to develop their intelligence simultaneously. On a scale of 0 to 10, where the average dog would score a 10, a dinosaur was barely a 3.They just could not adapt to the changes in their environment and became extinct.
Chances are that the early man must have seen a few live dinosaurs. Or he must have come across their huge fossilized bones. Did these dragons really breathe fire? The answer is no. But, when roaring, open mouthed, it must have felt like it to those within range. On the basis of this, stories of dragons must have taken shape in man's mind.
Native to Komodo and three other small islands in the Lesser Sundas group of Southeast Asia, the Komodo dragon is the world's largest living lizard. This huge lizard can exceed 3 meters in length and is a flesh eater. Until 1912, this colossal lizard was unknown to the science community. But the natives of the island were well aware of its existence, ferocity and ability as a man eater. Its massive size and bright yellow tongue that flickers out of its mouth in fire-spitting fashion, make this creature the closest thing we may have to a modern day dragon.
Notwithstanding that dragons might only be a creation of man's imagination, who knows if a gargantuan dinosaur is lurking somewhere in the thousands of square miles of unexplored jungles and tropical rainforests in the world? For all you know, you might encounter a dragon in real life after all!
From: Deccan Herald
Life: Job & weekend
Wheee, got my first job rejection letter. It was from Asda, so I ain't gonna be their bitch*. It doesn't bother me at all, yesterday I had a meeting with a guy from Shaw Trust, they organise work placements for people who are disabled and/or have been out of work for a while. Basically I'll be doing 3 mornings a week to see how I get on and what I can cope with. With my 4 years away and the annoyance known as my head I think it will be a lot better for me than just throwing myself in the deep end, so to speak.
And I get to see my friends tomorrow *happy dance* Kate, Sean, Tony and his 'guest' (aka Loretta) are coming to spend the weekend with us. We are planning to head into Cardiff on Saturday on the bus. As Loretta is a fan of Torchwood too, we have to go down to the bay to shout hi to Jack :) I'm sure there will be lots of Mario Karting going on over the weekend too, but not much internet surfing for me.
Speaking of Mario Kart, Anthony is getting really pissed off with it tonight.
*Its a Bill Bailey reference for those who are confused.
Life: Bunny rambling
I never did get around to posting on my 'bunny day'.
I had to go into town on Tuesday to meet with my disability advisor and sign on. As I got there half an hour early, which is usual for me as I hate being late, I popped into the library for a browse and ended up taking two bunny books to read, The Rabbit Whisperer and a book on Dwarf Rabbits. The dwarf one is mainly for art reference but as my little Tanis is a dwarf its twice as useful.
It turned out Sian, who I was meeting with, wasn't in that day so I just signed my bit of paper and left. Rather annoying because I still don't know if I've got on a work placement and I've not heard back from Asda either. If I don't get back into work soon I'm going to go loopy.
Still it wasn't a wasted visit as I went into Wilkinsons and brought the first part of Tanis' Garden. I'd spent Monday reading up on what fruits and veg are safe for my little guy and now I'm trying to grow some of them, starting with a little blackberry bush. I repotted it when I came home but its not looking too healthy now. I hope it recovers, its the first time I've tried to look after a fruit plant so I know things might not go to plan.
When I got back home there was a nice large brown envelope waiting for me, it was my membership pack for the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund. I was a little annoyed there are lots of magazines available for cats, dogs, fish and birds but none for bunnies. But after a bit of searching I found the RWAF do a quarterly magazine called Rabbiting On which is available to their members, so I signed up. I'm glad I did as they sent me loads of reading material by way of leaflets and books plus Tanis should get a free toy to play with in the next few weeks
I also had a really good think about the plan to have him inside in the winter and I think I can pull it off. The sitting room would be a nightmare to bunny-proof as there is so much stuff he could destroy (including my favourite dragon pieces) which I think was putting Anthony off the plan. However, I have a decent amount of space in the spare bedroom, or my craft room, and if I give it a good tidy up (its in a right mess at the moment) there should be plenty of room for him to play and space for his indoor hutch when I get it. Thats another reason I really need a job, good bunny homes are not cheap and I want one that is completely safe and comfortable for him.
Tanis is sunbathing at the moment, while I'm typing this up on the laptop outside. He loves his new run, there is loads of space for him to charge around and plenty of height for him to do his bouncing around. It also means part of the garden gets its grass cut!
Life: Trip to the vets.
ATCs added to tysha_arts
Today was supposed to just be a check-up and nail clipping for Tanis but when we got to the vets surgery they pointed out that Tanis was down for a myxo vaccination next month. As we are so close to the end of the month I got it done today instead of having to make another appointment, its not going to do him any harm. So vaccination-wise he's fine for another 6 months. Plus, thanks to the vet, the next one is free because its Vaccination Month for pets, we nearly missed out on that. I get to take him back in 3 months time for just the check-up, which should also be free under the bunny clinic membership.
But anyways, Tanis is in perfect health and was a good little boy during the appointment, even if he did climb up onto my shoulder again, it made the vet laugh. The injections don't bother him at all, if I'm holding onto him he's happy just to sit there and take it.
I did some reading up on house training bunnies when I got home but I know Anthony isn't too thrilled with that idea. I think the amount of rabbit-proofing we'd have to do puts him off. Its just on nights like this, wet and windy, I worry about him being outside. I shouldn't really, after all I did spend quite a bit of money on getting him two hutch covers, one to keep the heat in, or out during the summer, and one to keep him nice and dry.
Anthony and I have planned a nice quiet weekend at home, good thing really as I have 4 beanie dragons to sew together plus a few pictures I want to get down on paper.
So I ended up getting a box of that too. Not that its really a problem, with the amount of tea we get through they will get used up long before their expiry date!
Life: Saturday stuff
Horton Hears a Who was wonderful, it didn't spoil my love of the book at all. I'm really glad we went to see it, now we have to rely on buses I've found sometimes I really can't be bothered.
I'm bad. I went ahead and treated myself to a set of 24 polychromos pencils. ZhaKrisstol uses them for her traditional art and she says they are really good, so now I get to try them myself. I also picked up a small pile of scrap fabric from the Childline charity shop for making more dragons.
I'm also convinced my Tanis thinks he's a parrot. When carrying him back to his hutch this evening, we let him come in and play on the sofa with me, he decided he didn't want to sit quietly in my arms and climbed up onto my shoulder! I got some photos of the little fluff while he was on the sofa which I'll sort out tomorrow.
Oh, and Anthony is getting quite good at Guitar Hero, but I still haven't had a go yet!
But now to bed.
Life: Ramblings of guitars and cars
Scrap Dragon: Ostara posted to tysha_arts
Anthony is getting pretty good at Guitar Hero 3. Well, he's a LOT better than last night but then he was playing til midnight and then most of this morning. I still haven't had a go, but I'm not bothered because I got my next plushie done, and that was a lot more important to me :)
It looks like Anthony might have to munch his way through 3 easter eggs. I brought one each for Kate, Tony and Sean but it looks like I won't be seeing them for a while. Anthony is re-thinking about not needing a car and, to be honest, I really hope he does get a new one. I need to get Tanis to the vets for a check-up and nail clipping within the next 2 weeks and will have to book a taxi to get there and back, not good when I'm so short of cash.
Life: Happy Ostara
I decided to make an art journal = tysha_arts, so if your not interested in my random day to day stuff you can watch that one instead :)
For those celebrating today, I hope you have/had a wonderful Ostara. I had a nice quiet day with Tanis and a rather noisy evening with Anthony (he brought guitar hero for the Wii). I was hoping to get my Ostara dragon finished today but we had to pop over to Asda for bread and milk, so I'll complete it tomorrow morning.
For those celebrating over the weekend, I hope you have a great Easter :)
Art: Scrap Dragon - Jazza
I'm so pleased with this lil guy :)
I'm wondering if I should start a separate journal for art-related stuff, probably a community as that's what a few artistic friends have done and it means not having to log in and out again. That way people not interested in my life ramblings can just watch the art and vice versa. Hmm, think on this I shall*.
I also need to think up what I'm going to do for my next Scrap Dragon, Kate wants me to make one called bob, so I need to work out what bob-ish fabric I have :D I'm also hoping the felt I brought on eBay arrives today, that way I can finish off another beanie I have waiting.
(*one of my friends wants me to make a set of Star Wars beanie dragons so now I have a Yoda stuck in my head!)
